PEKIN MAIN STREET HOST "ARTS FIESTA" AT THE SPEAKEASY ART CENTER IN DOWNTOWN PEKIN
Story and Photos by Publisher Ed Emmons
Executive Director of Pekin Main Street Melida Heien had an idea for a fundraiser, have a make your own taco bar, music, refreshments, and art in one place for people to come and have a good time. That idea came true Thursday night as PMS hosted a "Arts Fiesta" held at the Speakeasy Art Center in downtown Pekin.

Volunteering for the event were PMS members, Jim Donahue, Eileen Lash, Chris Deverman, Pat Rogers, Courtney Antonini, and Greg Henderson, and Director Melida Heien. Also volunteering was Holly Eitenmiller, a member of the art center.

Melida is hoping that proceeds from the "Arts Fiesta" will help hold Pekin Main Street through the winter months, as things slow down.
Winners of the 2011 Pekin's got Talent Noodles and Chicken provided music for the event.
